SWIM-A-THON Saturday, April 30TH

Swim-A-Thon is a National fundraising event offered by Swimming Canada.  This annual program is designed to raise funds which are used to help promote and finance amateur competitive swimming at ALL levels, from local to international.

Awards will be given out at our annual PGBSC Awards Banquet for all swimmers who complete a Mile Swim (1600m) in less than 25, 35, and 45 minutes.

Even if you don't want to participate in the fundraising option, your child WILL still be swimming in the event.

All swimmers MUST have a parent attending to record their child's times.

Swim-A-Thon packages were handed out by the coaches in February.  That package included Donation forms, Swim Family Affidavit, and a Remittance Envelope.  If you don't have your package please print out the forms located in the Parents Area of our website http://www.pgbsc.org/Fund_Raising.html .

Please ensure your Remittance Envelope includes the swimmer's name, a completed Donation form, and completed Swim Family Affidavit.

Saturday's Schedule

Parents/Timers meeting is at 7:30 am

Swimmers on deck 7:45 am

Swim-A-Thon starts at 8:00 am

There is a 2 hr time limit so everyone will be finished swimming by 10 am

We've already received one donation envelope without any paperwork or even the swimmers name on it to indicate who the donation is from. You will not received a fundraising levy credit, if your Remittance Envelope is incomplete.

Any questions regarding Swim-A-Thon, please contact the coaches or myself.

2011 Summer camps

Good morning everyone,

Our 2011 Summer camp pamphlets are on the website.  You can find it by clicking on the Club Info tab at the top of the main page then click on Summer Camp along the left hand side of that page.

It is a great opportunity for those of you with kids 12 and under in the program who would like to improve on their skills.  As well as any friends that they would like to bring along.

If you know of someone who has kids 12 and under who is thinking about joining in the fall; attending the camp is also a great opportunity for them to 'get their feet wet' so to speak.

If you have any questions regarding the camp, send me an email.

Cheers,

Thank you for swim meet

Thank you to all the people who helped us host another successful Barracuda Swim Meet.  It is well recognized in the swimming community that the PGBSC hosts well run meets.  We would not be able to do this without the many volunteers who donate their time.  In order to ensure that there are always adequately trained people for all positions we are constantly training people to perform new tasks.  This past weekend we conducted a significant amount to training.  At every meet we always have volunteers that no longer have swimmers in the club.  This is amazing and we appreciate their help and the expertise they bring.  If you find yourself working alongside one of these individuals at future meets please thank them.

Once again, the Prince George Dental Community provided us with financial support for this meet. Thank you to Dr. Ozcan for soliciting the dental community for sponsorshipThe meet program had a list of dentists and orthodontists that sponsored the Moose Meet.  If you noticed your dentists/orthodontists name on that list please take the time to thank them at your next visit.

Hope to see everyone in November for the Northern Sprint Meet.

Meet Manager

Thank-you

On behalf of the Executive of the Prince George Barracuda Swim Club, we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation for a job well done this past weekend.  Thank-you to all the volunteers who put in countless hours to make this a success and special thanks to those who gave up their entire weekend to make this a very successful meet.  We pride ourselves in running the best meets in all of BC and you were all instrumental in carrying on this tradition.  See you at the pool!

Best Regards,

Sheila Nelson

Volunteers for Electronics

Hi Everyone,
This is just a reminder of the upcoming Electronics course this weekend
and the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board at the
Aquatics Centre.
We have an objective to recruit new people to help run the electronic
timing equipment for the upcoming meet as we will require a
minimum of four (4) people for each day (Fri, Sat & Sun). Currently these
spots are vacant and they need to be filled for us to run
the meet successfully. The positions are lots of fun and you have the
best seats in the house! If you are interested in
volunteering for one of these spots please indicate it on the sign-up
sheet and let myself (Chris Bailey - cwdbailey@gmail.com) or
Sheila Nelson (sheila_nelson@cflca.com ) know ASAP as the meet is only a
few days away.
Feel free to contact either one of us if you have any questions.
